Cooking Night - Mia Maids

Preparing dinner.

Enjoying dinner!

Tonight the Mia Maid class had a cooking night. First we divided up into teams and each team was assigned either a salad, main dish or desert. Then we piled into the cars and went to Macey's to do some shopping. Each team was given $10 to purchase their items. After shopping we went back to prepare our food. I forgot my camera for pictures at Macey's, but we had a great time deciding what to make for dinner and making sure it fit into our budget.

For dinner had a nice tossed salad with various veggies. For our main course we had French bread pizza's with pepperoni, olives and cheese and for desert we had banana splits and we only spent $ 25.00 and we fed 8 people very well. After dinner we cleaned up and watched some American Idol. We had a great night together!

The Tooele High Jr. Prom was Friday, April 17th. We had 7 juniors from our ward go to the prom. They all said they had a wonderful time at the prom. Most of them wore their dresses and tuxes to church on Sunday, so I took pictures of the girls in their beautiful dresses and the guys in their tuxes. The are looked wonderful and it sounded like they had a great time!

Last night for our activity the Beehives were in charge and we had a tissue paper prom. It was A LOT of fun!! Each class was given 3 bundles of tissue paper, tape, ribbon and a stapler. Then we went into different rooms in the church and made our dresses. Our Mia Maid class had a great time designing and creating our dress as did the Beehives and Laurels. After the dresses were made the model walked down the runway and modeled her dress. Then we all voted for the best dress. After the voting was completed Courtney presented the awards. Dutches (2nd runner-up) was Jordyn, Princess and Prince (1st runner-up) Katie and Breanna (they were the only ones with a date, because they were the Laurels and the only ones old enough to date) and Prom Queen was Chelsie. Each was given a tierra and Chelsie also received a Prom Queen Banner. We then all had cookies and punch. This was a fun activity and we are going to start a tradition of the tissue paper Prom each year right before the high school prom!!

We found out that there was a need in our community for lunches for the homeless people in our area. We were actually surprised to learn that there were homeless people in our community. So our Mia Maid class decide to do a service project and put together these kits. We sent sign-up sheets around in the Releif Society and Primary to have sisters help us with food items we needed for the kits. The items included a protein item, drink, fruit cup, desert and snack. The sisters in our ward were very generous and we were able to make 117 lunches for the humanitarian center located in the Tooele DI. They will then distribute them to the people in need. We had a great time collecting the food and then putting them together into the kits.
